The process of aging is one of those universal bonds connecting all people; it is inevitable and perpetual. Starting around age 30, this process hits us where it hurts the worst: the face. The face is the epicenter of our appearance, and without intervention, it can become overrun by fine lines, wrinkles, loose skin, deflated cheeks, and lost definition. The following nonsurgical treatments are safe, virtually painless, quick, effective, and provide immediate results.
A botulinum toxin formula injected into the target area that interferes with the nerve pulse and stops the muscle from contracting for a period of time.
A hyaluronic acid formula injected into the target area that acts as a cushion to fill wrinkles and restore youthful fullness to the face.
Short, concentrated beams of light pulsated at the skin to remove damaged layers and produce smoother, firmer skin.
People often steer away from surgery for addressing facial aging because of the dramatic changes it can make.
With nonsurgical treatments, patients can expect to have naturally firmer and smoother skin without having to go under the knife. Dr. Martin can help you achieve a younger, more refreshed appearance with natural-looking results.
These treatments eliminate wrinkles, fine lines, and uneven skin texture to produce smoother, tighter skin with results that show almost immediately.
By achieving smoother skin, patients can expect a clearer complexion that is dramatically younger looking.
Depending on the procedure, whether it be BOTOX® Cosmetic, dermal fillers, or laser skin resurfacing, patients will notice immediate changes in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of facial aging.
They can gain a more youthful look with minimal pain and recovery.
When aging takes a toll on a person’s face, it can affect their self-image. They look in the mirror and see an old, aging face with spots, scarring, fine lines, and wrinkles, and they do not feel fresh or youthful.
Dr. Martin can perform a combination of facial rejuvenation treatments to help to diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Overall, you can achieve a younger-looking, more beautiful complexion. You can expect to look and feel better and gain a more positive self-image.
Important events such as a wedding or the holidays often prompt people to improve their appearance, but they do not usually have much time, and they want immediate results.
There is little to no downtime associated with injectables and fillers, and these nonsurgical treatments provide fast results. BOTOX® Cosmetic, dermal fillers, and laser rejuvenation can provide patients with a refreshed appearance within hours after a short office visit.
Considering there are no incisions involved when performing laser, BOTOX® Cosmetic, or dermal filler treatments, there is no scarring involved.
There may be minor bruising or swelling around the injection site, although that will minimize in a few days.
One benefit of undergoing non-surgical treatments is that minimal pain is involved during and after the procedure.
Patients may experience some swelling or bruising for the first few days. There may be minor discomfort during the procedure, but it will usually subside after the injections have been administered.
Injectables are non-invasive procedures and require very little to no recovery time; patients can return to work almost immediately following injectable treatment.
Laser treatments involve the removal of layers of skin; therefore, patients can expect a few days of recovery time and a few weeks before final results are completely noticeable.
There are some risks and potential complications associated with any type of cosmetic procedure.
However, injectables, fillers, and laser resurfacing treatments are generally safe and effective, and any complications that may develop are usually minimal.
Many patients are apprehensive about getting injectable treatment for facial rejuvenation.
They are afraid the results they achieve won’t look natural. The common misconception is people who have undergone injectables or BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment look “fake” or “too tight.” Dr. Martin incorporates the latest techniques to ensure a natural-looking outcome for all his patients.
It is important to protect the skin after undergoing laser treatment. By keeping the face shielded from the sun and using sunscreen and hats for skin protection, patients can expect the best results possible. Additionally, it is best to follow a healthy skincare regimen that includes cleansing and moisturizing twice daily.
Risks and complications are minimal. Some may include:
Each laser treatment is designed for targeting specific skin conditions and has different components. Depending on the patient’s goals, Dr. Martin will recommend the best treatment possible. The following are the different laser options:
Laser treatments usually have minimal to no recovery time. It can be expected for non-ablative lasers to require five to seven days of recovery. Ablative lasers can take seven or more days of recovery. Deeper fractionated lasers may involve up to 14 days of downtime and may call for three to four days off of work.
In addition to anticipating recovery time, patients who undergo laser treatments should expect the skin to be raw, red, and swollen. Typically, this will subside within days after treatment.
The average BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment lasts three to four months. JUVÉDERM® and Restylane®, which both contain hyaluronic acid, can last up to six months.
Although very minimal, side effects of injectable treatments may include skin redness, skin rash with itching, bruising, bleeding from injection site, and swelling.
According to 2014 statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the average cost of a hyaluronic acid treatment such as JUVÉDERM® or Restylane® is $590. Each BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment averages around $390. Laser resurfacing is typically $2,146 for ablative and $1,062 for non-ablative. The costs of these treatments may vary upon the surgeon’s expertise, type of procedure, and geographic location.
